Architecture in Music

Listening to music is something that absolutely everyone does directly or indirectly. It´s not up to discusion that music plays a really important part in our society, we hear it everywhere, and even though we tend to think about moments or people when we listen to music, it´s also related to places.

Starting with a very obviuos example we have the ambiance or jingle music that is played in stores, for example, I´m sure if I tell to you the simple word Mercadona you are going to start singing the ultra famous single that goes with this grocery store and there are many other examples,

But also the power of music goes beyond linking a song to a place. Music can make us imagine whole pictures like a full on house or a cabin in the middle of the woods.

For some projects I have done I found my inspiration in my favourite singer, Taylor Swift.

There´s specifically one song by her that´s called ivy that tells the story of a married woman but when you listen to it if you focus just a little bit in the lyrics you can starr picturing a cabin made of stone covered in ivy and when you step in you feel the wamth of the fireplace that is lit up.

I find fascinating the ability to imagine the whole scene by just a song, the human being is so empathic that apart from feeling sadness or happiness or a song you can even have physical reactions from them, like feeling cold when a song talks about snow or pouring rain.
